What we said: Three form horses genuinely overlap here: Laylaty arrives on the back of a last-time win and an improving 4-3-1 sequence, Tango Hotel has strung together 1-2-2 with cheekpieces added, and Rhodes Runner carries the highest rating with a red-hot Beckett/Ryan combo at this course, but none separates enough at their prices to make a confident single call. Laylaty as the well-backed favourite at 9/4 is essentially trading at what her form is worth, not below it, and this track has been a weak one on this system's own record.

James Fanshawe and Daniel Muscutt combine for a well-drilled type at the trip, and with no draw bias to worry about he gets a fair run from stall 4.

What we said: Ridger heads the market on modest recent form (6997) while a genuine cluster of others — Outer Edge's string of 4-4-5-4-5 finishes, Macarone's improving 2-5 finish to his last two starts, and Demetris Mouflon's solid course record — all have live claims at broadly similar prices, and nothing separates them enough to lean hard on one; add rain easing the ground in a Class 6 handicap-type sprint and this is a race to watch rather than back.

What we said: Last Flight sits favourite on a fair run of thirds and looks the one to beat, but Lusaka, Merrijig and Golden Flame all carry legitimate recent form in the same range with nothing at the price that clearly separates them, and the rain-softened ground adds a layer of doubt none of them have proven claims on. In a small, competitive Class 6 like this, backing the head of the market needs a specific edge today and I don't see one strong enough to break the tie.
