What we said: Marsala is the obvious class reference with an actual racecourse effort (4th over 6f) behind her, but she's already sent off a well-backed joint-favourite in a 13-runner novice stuffed with unraced fillies from smart yards (Gosden's Coaxed, Varian's Miss Miniver, Balding's Sweltering), and there's nothing in the card that lets me separate her from that unknown quantity with real conviction — the ground switch to standard is also unproven for her. Too many first-time-out types with sire/going flags in their favour to trust one form line at a short-ish price.

What we said: Second in form line to a win last time, from the Haggas yard with Cieren Fallon booked, and clearly the class act on ratings in a small five-runner field. The step up to this trip is unproven but the pedigree and stable strength give her every chance to see it out well enough to beat this depleted book.

What we said: Kempton's div I handicap is a genuine scrum: Percy's Lad and Cogitate share top billing on the numbers, Dapper Guest sits close behind, and Sea Founder has been backed into 6/5 from 15/2 on solid recent form and course experience, leaving four runners with real cases and nothing in the form book that cleanly separates them at the prices on offer. Percy's Lad carries the best speed figure in the race and a long, consistent record at the trip, but his latest run was moderate and Cogitate's first-time visor adds genuine doubt either way.

What we said: Five runners (Wild Nature, Philanthropist, Metal Merchant, Chalk Mountain, Racingbreaks Ryder) all sit within a few points of each other on recent form and ability, and none shows the single angle needed to separate it from that pack — Racingbreaks Ryder's return to winning form last time is the most eye-catching line but it's balanced by a 47-day gap since, while Metal Merchant and Philanthropist are both working off moderate recent efforts too. With this many legitimate claims at similar prices in a 7f Kempton handicap, there's no honest single-horse case here.

What we said: Five runners carry legitimate claims here: Warrior Mode is the classiest and best-rated but is up in weight and stepping from 7f with only one run at this trip; Grey Soul arrives on the back of two straight wins over course-and-distance-type conditions; Stardancer, Metallo and Foreseen all have puncher's-chance form lines too, and nothing separates them cleanly at the prices in a ten-runner handicap. With that many plausible winners and no standout angle, this is a pass for my own money.

What we said: Three runners arrive with legitimate claims and nothing decisively separates them: Final Night owns the deepest course-and-distance form (18 runs at this trip, multiple wins) but his sire line has only a slight preference for faster ground than today's standard-to-slow, Rogue Allegiance arrives on a genuine upward curve (6-2-3-2-2-1, won last time) but steps up to this trip without proven form there, and Sovereign View carries the highest rating and figure in the race but the market already has him drifting down the list for reasons that aren't obvious from the card. None of these angles stacks high enough above what the prices already reflect to make a confident single call.
