What we said: Four solid form figures in a row (7-2-3-2) including three placed efforts right here over course and distance, and dropping back to a fitter mark with a 5lb claim aboard should finally get this one over the line. The going and trip are proven, the horse is race-fit off a recent run, and the rest of this maiden field is littered with jumping errors (falls, unseats) or big layoffs that make them hard to trust.

What we said: Fourteen line up in this handicap hurdle and while Syosset heads the market on solid recent placed form (3-2-2) and a fit quick backup run, he hasn't actually won since last spring and the 5lb claimer is unproven at this level, so the price doesn't reward stepping in with confidence; Liceo carries the biggest weight burden of the field despite the highest rating, and Convincing's cheekpieces move plus market steam make him no bet either without a proven turnaround. Too many moving parts — drifting market outsiders, a first-time headgear runner, two returning-from-a-break types — for any one horse to stand out as a genuine strike at the price on offer.

What we said: Tyson Fury and Mont Star head a market that's split almost down the middle, and neither gives me a clean read: Tyson Fury's 2-2-3 form shows genuine consistency but he's yet to win, while Mont Star has only two hurdle starts and now wears a tongue strap for the first time, which is as often a red flag as a boost. With Cooladdi, Forlio and Master Sydney all capable of nicking a piece of the finish in a talent-thin 13-runner maiden full of first-timers and long-absentees, there's no single angle here worth putting money behind.

What we said: Comes into this with a battle-hardened recent win and a spotless record over course, distance and today's ground (2 runs each, both finishing top two), while the 7lb claim from Peter Smithers takes him down to a workable weight in a small, uncompetitive field. The one proven confirmed stayer at this trip with the right profile on quick ground, he looks the swiftest into stride of a modest quintet.

What we said: This is a genuinely open contest with a crowded pace scenario, five confirmed front-runners against three hold-up types, and at least four horses (Mickie Angel, A Law Of Her Own, Rexem, Ceanndana) with legitimate claims that nothing in the form book cleanly separates. A Law Of Her Own carries a tempting sire-going match but her last start ended in an unseated rider, Rexem's course form and steamer look real but come with a cold trainer at this track, and Mickie Angel's solid recent placings are already fully reflected in her price — none of it adds up to a case I'd back with my own money.

What we said: this Kilbeggan bumper has too many thinly-exposed types to split with confidence: Mr Enigma's solitary run reads well but is a single sample, Inishtearaght carries an Emmet Mullins yard that fires in these but is equally unexposed, and Hot Rock Harry and Appy Ways both have live claims on threadbare form. With four runners realistically capable of winning off one run apiece there's no honest way to isolate a single price worth backing.
